What is the Campus Council?

Established by the Secretary for the California Natural Resources Agency, the Council was created to ensure a healthy, productive, and collaborative workplace for both employees and visitors in the new Natural Resources Headquarters Building. The council works to ensure a campus that is used creatively and to its full potential.

The Council serves in an advisory role to the Office of the Secretary and the Department of General Services (DGS) facility management, which establishes, maintains, and adopts operational policies for the building.

Members

The Council is comprised of a team of Administrative Deputies and Facility Managers from the eleven Resources Agency Affiliated Offices who are occupying the headquarters building. The team also includes representatives from DGS.

Goals

The main goal of the Council is to promote a healthy, productive, and collaborative workplace, and to optimize use of the campus. To do this, the Council will:

  • Monitor existing policies and procedures and recommend changes when needed.
  • Facilitate communication by collecting input from employees across departments on how to optimize use of the building for employees and visitors alike and use this input to guide recommendations for building related decision-making.
  • Build community by identifying creative ways to strengthen connections across departments, employees, and key stakeholders.
  • Implement approved changes being requested so that the entire building is operating under consistent guidance and policies as they relate to facilities.

The Council looks forward to working strategically about the future of work and the spaces we work in including supporting a variety of experience for convenience, functionality, and wellbeing. By improving communication and access to information, and quickly resolving issues, our campus will be a “community first” space for tenants and visitors alike.
